aGreat TV Moments Get USPS “Stamp” Of Approval Lassie will appear at the US Postal Service Event on August 11th unveiling the Early TV Moments 20 stamp set. Each stamp depicts the iconic moment from the shows, with Lucy and Ethel temping at a chocolate factory, Groucho's duck quacking at The Secret World and Lassie standing valiantly by accident prone little Timmy's side. The location is: The theatre hold 300 hundred people who will be seated by 10:30am. Also scheduled to appear are June Lockhart and Carl Reiner/Master of Ceremonies, and others.

World’s Most Famous Dog to Plug Drink on British TV
Highland Spring Water Is To Use Lassie In Advert Campaign: The world’s most recognised dog, Lassie is to star in a new advertisement campaign by Highland Spring called ‘Iconic Love’.
Featuring alongside other famous tender moments from films of the 1930’s and 1940’s, Lassie will feature in a new poster and press advertising campaign.
The posters show a black and white scene from Lassie Come Home (1943) where a young Roddy McDowall receives a bottle of Highland Spring from Lassie. The strap line used is ”Now, that’s true love”.
The ad campaign was released 5/18/09, with a billboard at the site of the 2012 Olympic village in east London.

Canine icons Lassie and Rin Tin Tin will get together for a special event to be held Memorial Day Weekend in Crockett, Texas. The world’s two most famous dogs have only met in person twice before; the first meeting took place 65 years ago and the duo got together again in 2005. (shown here)
Lassie, along with owner/trainer Carol Riggins of Canyon Country, California will travel to Texas for the annual Rin Tin Tin Puppy Reunion and ARFkids Training Seminar scheduled to be held in Davy Crockett Memorial Park in Crockett, Texas on Saturday, May 23 beginning at 10 a.m. Rin Tin Tin will be on hand with owner/breeders Daphne Hereford and Jan Hall as well as trainer Debra Hnath and photographer John Hnath to greet Lassie. In a special ceremony, Houston County Judge Lonnie Hunt will present a Proclamation to the canine duo declaring May 23, 2009 "Lassie and Rin Tin Tin Day" in the county. Cathy of lassie.net will be there too and bring back a full report and photos!

Welcome Home Lassie!
Lassie has returned from "across the pond"! After a few years in UK, Classic/Entertainment Rights has been sold to a US Company- Boomerang Media. The owners of Boomerang are no strangers to Lassie. In fact, they were with Lassie at Broadway Video back in 1995 when lassie.net first started, and Jerry Seinfeld's wife Jessica was our first contact. They stayed with Lassie up until the UK sale but saw the opportunity to bring Lassie back home under Boomerang. Lassie makes a surprise visit to Cesar Milan and lassie.net was there!
In four seasons and 100 episodes, Dog Whisperer With Cesar Millan has grown into a cultural phenomenon, from parodies on "South Park" to being a clue on "Jeopardy" to appearances on "Oprah" and the "Tonight Show" and Cesar's two New York Times best-selling books. And now the show celebrates its 100th episode with a grand reunion of many of the past guests - and their dogs - all in one place at one time! Cesar also hears congratulations from celebrity friends and past show guests, including Jada Pinkett Smtih, Patti LaBelle, Virginia Madsen, Ed McMahon and Daisy Fuentes. The episode also takes a look back at several fan favorite stories from past seasons, with an update on how the dogs - and the owners - are doing now. And back at the celebration, in addition to the red carpet arrivals for all the dogs from the past seasons, the party includes a pet trick contest and a special dual cake cutting - one cake for humans, and of course, one cake for dogs. Cesar is also surprised when his childhood idol, Lassie, makes a special guest appearance The 100th episode of the Dog Whisperer airs on National Geographic Channel on September 19th at 9PM ET/PT.

Lassie Comes Home - Lassie rights revert to heirs of Eric Knight, or do they? What rights?

On Friday July 11, 2008 the press was full of reports that the rights for Lassie had reverted to the heirs of Eric Knight after this court judgement. . These reports left the incorrect impression for the layman that Classic Media had lost the Lassie trademark and that it had reverted to the Knight family. But Copyright and Trademark are different animals. Classic Media's larger rights were never at issue, and an agreement with the counterparty to the case has brought a complete resolution of the matter.
Classic Media's official statement
explains:
"With respect to the recent ruling regarding Lassie®, Classic Media is disappointed by the Ninth Circuit's decision. The case centered on a matter of non-exclusive copyright interest, however, we would note that while this narrow point of law was before the Court, Classic Media's trademarks and its rights to create, distribute and merchandise the Lassie-brand were never at issue.
Further, we are pleased to announce that the parties have independently reached complete resolution of all matters in the case, with Classic Media owning the exclusive 100% copyright in Lassie. Classic Media looks forward to continuing to bring the adventures of the world's most famous dog to audiences everywhere for generations to come."

09/15/07- Joan of lassie.net was at the Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Convention September 13-15th in Aberdeen, Md at the Clarion Hotel. On Saturday September 15th Joan gave a multimedia laced presentation entitled "Lassie, A Dog's Tale" that traced the Lassie legacy from the beginning to today's Lassie Pet Vet show. Joan talked about some of her personal memories, favorite collectibles and even had a special guest with her. Her booth had some great Official Lassie items and preview an episode of "Lassie's Pet Vet". See photos here
08/26/07- Cathy of www.lassie.net was at National Dog Day on Sunday, August 26th, 2007 from 10am to 6pm at Malibu Conference Center at Calamigos Ranch, 327 S. Latigo Canyon Road, Malibu, CA 90265. She was there with her Gina Bina Ballerina children's book and toys and had some great Official Lassie items and episodes of "Lassie's Pet Vet" for fans
