- Lassie Come Home, 1943
Based on a short story, and a later novel by Eric
Knight, an unemployed Yorkshire collier who is forced to sell his son's beloved collie to
pay for rent and food. The dog escapes and walks through Scotland and part of England to
return to her master.

basket of a balloon that blows away in a freak storm and finally crashes in the Canadian
wilderness. Re-edited from the four part 1963 TV story "The Journey".

- Lassie: A New Beginning, 1973 (Made for TV)
Earl Hamner Jr (The Waltons) co-wrote this
screenplay. The Stratton kids, Samantha and Chip, and their grandmother Ada. drive to
"visit" their uncle Stuar. Grandma collapses and dies in a strange town, leaving
the kids and Lassie on their own.

industrialist retaliates by proving Lassie is his and taking her from him, thus Lassie
begins the journey home.

Matt Turner's widowed dad accepts a job out in the
Virginia countryside where they have no sidewalks for skateboarding and no MTV which is
not something that makes city wise Matt happy. Enroute to their new home they come upon a
truck accident and a lost collie, which they take with them to their new home. Lassie
teaches Matt about the pleasures of the simpler life.
